The Red House Museum with associated outbuildings, situated on an overall plot of approximately 1.22 acres (0.49 hectares) was built in c1660 and used as a private residence. The property is famous for having once been the home of Charlotte Brontë’s friend Mary Taylor. The site was opened as a museum in 1974, this use of the property ended in 2017.
Kingscrown now seek to convert and refurbish the property and outbuildings back in to a residential use, for 5 separate dwellings.
Pre application consultation is currently being undertaken with Heritage England and Kirklees Council to agree the proposed layout and design of the properties prior to the formulation of a planning application.
